Some words about Amalafrida...

She was born in the middle of the 5th century and sister of Ostrogothic king Theoderic the Great. She was married to the Vandal king Thrasamund and mother of Theodahad and Amalaberga who married a Thuringian king.
After Thrasamund's death, Amalafrida was arrested by the new Vandal king Hilderic and died around 525. Her death is unexplained - it's most likely that she was murdered.

Why not creating a kind of internetboard about Early Medieval/Viking Age Archaeology for exchanging informations about conferences, exhibitions, having discussions?

Why? I'm registered on internetboards and more and more I realized that this means spending a lot of money, especially time and energy, in particular when people start fighting.
Ok, so why not a homepage about the Migration Period and Early Medieval Archaeology?
Hmmm, later...perhaps and not right at the moment. Beside that I still have a html-and-co-knowledge of a kindergardenchild.
So I ended up here. First of all I want to see how it works, if I'm still interested in doing it after a couple of weeks and months (and if I learned something more about html ;-).

Btw, I'm aware that I'm not the very first creating a blog about News in Archaeology. I just had this idea and longing to have "my own" side where I can write about News in Archaeology, set links to current exhibtions and reviews books I read - peppered with my personal point of view.
Later on I also want to set links to pages which are related to archaeology and might be helpfully and interesting for you.

You probably realize very soon that I'm VERY into the Migration Period, Early Medieval Ages to the very beginning of the High Middle Ages. Therefore I will keep my main focus on News from those centuries but if there is also something else which Must be noted I'll not ignore it ;)

This side is still in progress as I still try to figure out all the functions.
Actually it should be possible to write comments? I think so? O_o
